You’ve already learned how to be a therapist. Now learn how to guide, evaluate, and support the next generation of clinicians. Our online, self-paced course provides the 30 clock hours of post-master’s supervision training Oregon requires for LPC and LMFT Supervisor Candidates, including the systems components required for supervisors of MFT associates, with practical tools you’ll use in real supervision.
Kate Walker Training has offered supervisor training since 2006, when Dr. Kate Walker, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT-S, began teaching it with Dr. Judy DeTrude. Kate Walker Training is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 7040).
Under OAR 833-130-0040, you qualify as a Supervisor Candidate by holding an active Oregon license as a professional counselor or marriage and family therapist, completing 30 clock hours of post-master’s degree supervision training, and passing the board’s Supervisor’s Law and Rules Exam. Supervisors of MFT associates also need supervision training that includes systems components.
According to the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, an Approved Supervisor also needs two years of active licensure with the board (or AAMFT or CCE Approved Supervisor status, or a CACREP-accredited doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision), at least 6 hours of supervision of your clinical supervision by a Board Approved Supervisor, and at least 100 hours of post-licensure experience supervising. Supervisor Candidates have five years to meet those requirements.
This course provides the 30 clock hours of supervision training, organized around the content areas in the board’s Supervisor Training Guidelines. The board makes the final decision on your registration.
Review the current requirements on the board’s Supervisor page.

"The ability to reach out and talk with Kate and the optional weekly Study Halls... The content really made you think about what you would do and the best way to approach your job as gatekeeper for the profession. I also liked the fact that once completed, I had a supervision contract and a document that I can use for orientation of new supervisees."
