You’ve already learned how to be a therapist. Now learn how to guide, evaluate, and support the next generation of clinicians. Our online, self-paced course provides the 45 hours of clinical supervision training Minnesota requires for board-approved LPC and LPCC supervisors, with practical tools you’ll use in real supervision.
Kate Walker Training has offered supervisor training since 2006, when Dr. Kate Walker, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT-S, began teaching it with Dr. Judy DeTrude. Kate Walker Training is a Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy approved provider.
Minnesota Rules, part 2150.5010, subpart 3, requires board-approved supervisors to complete a minimum of 45 hours of formal training in providing counseling supervision. The training can include graduate coursework, continuing education courses, workshops, or a combination.
The training is one part of the requirements. According to the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy, an LPCC supervisor must also be a licensed professional clinical counselor (or another professional the board determines is qualified), have four years of professional counseling experience, and have two years of post-licensure experience. An LPC supervisor needs four years of professional counseling experience and the same 45 hours of training.
Minnesota Statutes, section 148B.5301, subdivision 2, also requires LPCC supervision to be provided under a contract that defines the clinical practice and the supervision. You apply to the board for supervisor approval, and the board makes the final decision.
Review the current requirements on the board’s Board Approved Supervisor page.

"The ability to reach out and talk with Kate and the optional weekly Study Halls... The content really made you think about what you would do and the best way to approach your job as gatekeeper for the profession. I also liked the fact that once completed, I had a supervision contract and a document that I can use for orientation of new supervisees."
LaTonya Hendricks, course graduate, April 2023
