You’ve already learned how to be a therapist. Now learn how to guide, evaluate, and support the next generation of counselors. Our online, self-paced course provides the twenty-four hours of counselor supervision training Ohio requires for the LPCC training supervision designation (LPCC-S), with practical tools you’ll use in real supervision.
Kate Walker Training has offered supervisor training since 2006, when Dr. Kate Walker, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT-S, began teaching it with Dr. Judy DeTrude. Kate Walker Training is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 7040).
Under OAC 4757-17-01(I), the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board grants the training supervision designation to licensed professional clinical counselors (LPCCs) who document at least twenty-four hours of academic coursework or board-approved continuing education in counselor supervision, with six hours in each of four areas: assessment, evaluation, and remediation; counselor development; management and administration; and professional responsibilities, including ethical, legal, and regulatory issues.
The rule also requires clinical experience after LPCC licensure, including observing training supervision sessions, and three hours of continuing professional education in supervision to maintain the designation.
This course provides the twenty-four hours of supervision training, organized around those four content areas. You apply to the board for the designation, and the board makes the final decision.
Review the current rule in OAC 4757-17-01.

"What I love the most about the course is just how engaging it is, how it really makes you think, how well prepared I feel to be a supervisor... I love this course. It was recommended to me and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be a supervisor."
Course participant, July 2026
"The ability to reach out and talk with Kate and the optional weekly Study Halls... The content really made you think about what you would do and the best way to approach your job as gatekeeper for the profession. I also liked the fact that once completed, I had a supervision contract and a document that I can use for orientation of new supervisees."
LaTonya Hendricks, course graduate, April 2023

To earn the training supervision designation in Ohio, the rule also requires:
An Ohio LPCC license
At least one year and 1,500 hours of clinical experience after LPCC licensure, including diagnosing and treating mental and emotional disorders, and observing five training supervision sessions with a supervisor-designated LPCC followed by a review session
Once you meet these requirements, you apply to the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, including the board’s form documenting your familiarity with legal, ethical, and clinical issues in supervision. The board makes the final decision on the designation.
